A FIELD GUIDE TO THE FOLIO

Find your way around.

Read, collect, make, and join the conversation. A practical guide to the spaces and tools at Junction.

01 / READING & KEEPING

Follow the writing. Keep its sources.

The Annals hold published writing. Reading paths connect chapters with useful references; the curated collection links to original websites. Use the search at the top of the page to search across articles, references, topics and workshop examples.

Sign in to save an article or resource to your desk. Use the language switch for the corresponding page, and Paper / Ink to adjust your reading environment. RSS follows new writing without an account.

02 / MAKING & EXPORTING

From a template to your own work.

The workbench has three continuing sections: monograms and share cards, typography and color, and private correspondence. Start with a template, adjust its controls, inspect the preview, and choose an export format.

Choose the right file

  • SVG preserves vector shapes. Text still depends on the fonts available on the viewing device.
  • PNG fixes the rendered appearance at your selected size. Check small icons against both light and dark backgrounds.
  • The icon pack collects common favicon and application-icon files. Use the included instructions when adding them to a website.
  • Typography exports CSS. Color contrast checks numerical contrast; it does not replace testing real text and interface states.

03 / DRAFTS & YOUR DESK

A browser draft is not an account copy.

As a guest, tool drafts remain in this browser. They do not automatically travel to another device and can disappear when browser data is cleared. Download important work, or sign in and save it to your account.

Reopen a saved project from your desk. Updating changes that project; saving a new copy creates a separate version. If another tab has already changed the project, keep your current work and reopen the latest saved version before updating.

04 / CONTRIBUTIONS & REVIEW

Share work with a clear source.

Contributions may be articles, resources or workshop pieces. Sign in, save a private draft, and submit when ready. Publication follows editorial review; status and feedback are available on your desk.

A submission in review can be withdrawn for editing. Editing a published contribution does not silently replace the public version: revised work needs another review. You can unpublish the public version from its detail page.

05 / PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE

Keep the receipt. Return for the reply.

Letters are private to the sender and the editorial team. After sending, download the receipt containing your receipt number and access key. A guest needs both to open the conversation again. The access key is shown only once.

Signed-in letters also appear on your desk. Replies and further messages stay on the same receipt page. There are no email notifications yet, so return to check for a reply.

06 / ACCOUNT HELP

Keep your recovery code safe.

Registration uses a username and password. Save the one-time recovery code issued during registration in your password manager. Email password recovery is not available yet.

Where are my guest drafts?

Guest drafts belong to the browser where they were created. Return to that browser, sign in, and save the work to your account to access it elsewhere.

I lost a guest letter receipt.

Without its access key, a guest letter cannot be reopened on another session. You can send a new letter and explain the context; do not include passwords or recovery codes.

Where can I report a problem?

Send a letter with the page URL, what you tried, and what happened. Choose Feedback or correction as the subject.
